THE EIGHTH of a series of lectures on “psychological persuasions and compulsions†for Officers and Other Ranks serving in Jaffna was conducted recently at the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) between 7-10 July 2008.
The senior visiting lecturer on Mass Media at the Universities of Colombo and Sri Jayawardhanapura Dr. Punchinilame Meegaswatte delivered the lectures during the sessions.
Around 3000 Security Forces personnel from 51 and 52 Divisions and troops returning in the “Jetliner†after leave attended the lectures conducted at Kankesanthurai transit centre and also at the 51 Division Headquarters in Jaffna town.
History and present situation of the island, use of narcotics and their adverse effects and positive way of conducting the civil life were among major areas that were taken up for discussion.
