UK General Sir Michael Rose KCB CBE DSO QGM (Retd), widely acclaimed as a lecturer on \"Peace-keeping\" who is now in Sri Lanka, traveled to the northern Jaffna peninsula on Sunday (20) in a bid to receive an evaluation of social and security developments taking place there.
Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) Major General Sarath Fonseka RWP RSP psc and Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral C. H. Tuduwewatte RSP USP psc Msc (DS), DISS, MRIN briefed the visiting delegate on the current security arrangements in the area vis-a-vis the current cessation of hostilities at the office of the Security Forces Commander in Jaffna.
Later, Gen Rose met Jaffna\'s Divisional Secretary and Senior Superintendent of Police in the area and held discussions before he had a brief meeting with representatives of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in the peninsula.
The same evening Gen. Rose visited Security Forces Headquarters in Vavuniya and met senior Officers. Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Vavuniya) Major Gen. M. D. S Chandrapala RWP RSP USP psc briefed him on security matters in the area before he left for Colombo on Monday (21) morning.
