The 582 Infantry Brigade troops of the 58 Infantry Division under the 1 Corps HQ coordinated a project to donate a microscope and a stock of school accessories, worth about Rs. 350,000.00 to 124 students studying at Uduwa Secondary school on Saturday (March 04) at the school premises.
The required financial grant was provided by Mrs Kanishka Peellawaththage and her friends through the coordination of Ms Shashikala Gunaranthna after the children's financial constraints were brought to the attention of the donors.
The 582 Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier Chandra Abeykoon who initiated the gesture graced the event as the chief guest with representative donors. Several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Principal and tutorial staff with students participated in the event.
Major General Vipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding, 58 Infantry Division and Major General Nishantha Manage, Commander, 1 Corps provided necessary guidelines.
