UDA Helps Funeral Arrangements of Soldier Killed in Accident


Urban Development Authority (UDA) of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development which has been utilizing Army expertise and skills for different urban infrastructure development projects in the western province recently, made a donation of Rs 50,000 to a bereaved family of an Army soldier who met with an accidental death while engaged in Bastian Mawatha redevelopment project in Colombo.

The accident caused death to Trooper D.G. Saman Kumara of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps due to a fall of a concrete slab while on duty at the floating vessel development project in Bastian Mawatha.

Mr Nimal Perera, Chairman, UDA after meeting members of the bereaved family recently presented a cheque to the value of Rs 50,000 as assistance for conduct of the deceased's funeral arrangements.

In addition, the Army was to provide all welfare benefits, entitled to family members upon death of an Army member.
