A combined sponsorship, offered by three donor agencies at the request of the 542 Infantry Brigade of the 54 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - Wanni (SFHQ-Wanni) provided gift parcels and school accessories to 34 students at Thambapanni Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya and Pannivettuwan Primary School located in Mannar area on Saturday (18 Feb) along with a lunch treat.
During a simple ceremony at Pannivettuwan Primary School, those beneficiaries received essential school aids and gift parcels, each worth Rs. 5,000.00. The total project cost Rs. 170,000.00 for donor agencies, DSI Pvt Ltd, SALOTA International Company and State Printing Corporation.
The project was initiated by 542 Infantry Brigade troops under the guidance of Major General Nalinda Niyangoda, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 54 Infantry Division, Colonel Bambaradeniya, Commander, 542 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel S.M.N.C Darmasuriya, Civil Affairs Officer, 542 Infantry Brigade.
The GOC, 54 Infantry Division attended the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest. Representatives of donor agencies, Officers, Other Ranks, Principals with members of the teaching staff of both schools participated in the project.
