COLOMBO: THE TWO new MULLAITTIVU and KILINOCHCHI Security Forces Headquarters, established by Sri Lanka Army on the instructions of Commander of the Army General SARATH FONSEKA, came into operation with effect from 5th June 2009, the Army Headquarters declared.
Major General CHANNA GUNATHILAKA has been appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) for Security Forces Headquarters, KILINOCHCHI SFHQ (KLN) and Major General NANDANA UDAWATTE has been appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) for Security Forces Headquarters, MULLAITTIVU SFHQ (MLT), both under command to Army Headquarters.
Both MULLAITTIVU and KILINOCHCHI Commanders are responsible for the overall command, control and discipline of all ranks under command. Roles and responsibilities of both Headquarters depend on operational requirements with expansion of civil administration in respective districts. With the raising of those two new Security Forces Headquarters, Sri Lanka Army has five Security Forces Headquarters across the island.
