Two More New Books on Experiences in Mullaittivu & Kokavil Attacks Released

Two more new books, authored by Major Sujith Chaminda Edirisinghe, Chief Editor, 'Ranaviruwa' magazine of the Army at Directorate of Psychological Operations that describe the heroic saga of the war victory before May 2009 and noteworthy fierce battles which claimed many precious lives of War Heroes were recently released after presenting both maiden copies to General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army at the Army Headquarters.

Release of "Maranaya Medin Mullaittivu Sita" (from Mullaittivu in the midst of Death) and “Avi Bimaka Giniyama" (Tension in a Battlefield) coincided with the 12th Victory Day on May 18 and those books respectively narrate the July 1996 attack on terrorists, one of the worst setbacks for ruthless LTTE terrorists in the 30-year long war history and the deadliest 1990 Kokavil attack, in which fifty-four soldiers and four civil staffers were among the 61 inside the camp who worked at the television station in Kokavil at that critical moment.

Based on facts and credible information after a sustained research, both books narrate detailed defence strategies, tactics, manipulations, concerted efforts and counter attacks, adopted by heroic Army soldiers in their collective thrust against the enemy, whose heart-stopping and touching stories of warfare significance had not been documented earlier. The author, dedicating both books as a tribute to those unsung War Heroes, claims that he had been engaged in an extensive research project for more than three years in order to extract exact minute details of those brave acts, having interviewed the few who are still alive or heard as re-told to them.

Major Sujith Chaminda Edirisinghe who has also authored a few more researched books on interesting warfare experiences and life-threatening accounts wishes to interact with a wider audience of readers for further enlightenment and those wishing to do so can contact the author through Tel Nos: 077-2649344 / 071-0545710.
