Two more LTTE Suicide Boats &;amp; Three Vehicles Found

MULLAITTIVU: 53 DIVISION troops, commanded by Major General KAMAL GUNERATHNE during extended search and clear operations in KARAYANMULLIVAIKKAL area where they recovered a 55-ft long LTTE suicide boat uncovered two more suicide boats, two armour-plated unicorn vehicles and one buffel vehicle by Wednesday (13) evening.

Explosive- laden boats and other three passangers movement  vehicles had been covered with foliage when they were recovered by the troops.

A 55-feet long Tiger (LTTE) suicide boat, laden with some 1500 kg of high explosives was uncovered by 53 Division troops from KARAYANMULLIVAIKKAL area when the troops were moving deeper into the beach side Wednesday (13) afternoon. (See Situation Report Titled “55-ft Long LTTE Suicide Bomb Emerges from Beachside” on 13th May 2009).     In the meantime, two hundred and sixty five civilians who fled LTTE-held areas in the “No Fire Zone” managed to reach the 53 Division troops, the same evening seeking protection. One teenage boy had sustained injury when the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire at the fleeing civilians while another elderly  male had lost a part of his leg due to explosion of an LTTE anti personnel mine, buried in the area.
