Two More Houses Built by Army for Families in Madu to be Warmed on Army Day

Construction of two more new houses, meant for homeless or less fortunate families in Sinnapandivirichchan village in Madu area as part of house construction for the needy under the Army community projects of the 65 Division HQ is now underway following state patronage given to 65 Division, 653 Brigade and 24 Gajaba Regiment troops of the Security Force HQ- Wanni.

On being informed of the plight of these two families, the Commander 653 Brigade, Brigadier Sudantha Fonseka took the initiative to this effect. The guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 65 Division, Major General Anil Samarasiri enabled the troops to coordinate with the Divisional Secretariat in Madu for purchase of raw materials as troops were ready to build those houses.

The construction of the second house thus commenced on 08 September and 24 Gajaba Regiment troops volunteered to erect the house within weeks if raw materials were forthcoming as planned. On 28 July 2021, the construction of the first house began during a simple ceremony. Nearly 80% of the construction of this home has already been completed by 11 September 2021. The Commander 653 Brigade on 11 September 2021 paid a visit to assess the progress of both constructions along with the Commanding Office of 24 GR.

The project is actively coordinated by officers and soldiers of the 65 Division, 653 Brigade, and 24 Gajaba Regiment wit financial provisions given by the DS office. The beneficiaries are to receive those houses on account of the forthcoming 72nd Army Day on 10th October 2021.
