Two Families in Kantale Get Army-Built New Houses

Two more Army-built new houses for homeless two families in Kantale area were vested in the beneficiaries during simple ceremonies on Wednesday (8) by Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Commander, Security Forces - East.

Both community projects were completed by 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) troops under the supervision of the Commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel B.P.C Wanniarachchi with funds made available for both projects by National Housing Development Authority after their miserable plights were brought to the notice of the funding agency.

In keeping with Buddhist traditions, two simple ceremonies got underway. Starting the ceremonies the keys to the first house were handed over to Mrs. G. Thakshila Subhashini who is a disabled mother and her family. The second house was built for Mrs W. M. Niluka Priyangani whose both sons are suffering from Leukemia.

At the same occasion, stocks of household equipment were also gifted to the beneficiaries by the same 5 (V) SLA troops, considering the humanitarian aspect of the projects.

The Commander Security Forces - East, together with the General Officer Commanding of 22 Division, the Brigade Commander of the 222 Brigade, Civil Affairs Officer, the Commanding Officer of 5 (V) SLA and the Regional Manager of the National Housing Development Authority in Trincomalee also attended warming ceremonies of both houses.
