Trust COVID-19 Information Given by Government Information Department & NOCPCO

By 12.00 noon today (15), 532 positive cases were reported from Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Justice. Out of those, a total of 442 were detainees under rehabilitation, 68 staffers and the rest, 22 were among associates and others, a statement issued this afternoon (15) by Military Spokesman, Brigadier Chandana Wickramasinghe on behalf of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

Likewise, as of the time of issue of this communique, 19 Covid-19 positive cases were reported. Among them, 09 are from the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre, including staffers, associates of civil lecturers (4) and 6 more Sri Lankan expatriates from Oman (4) and UAE (2) who are undergoing quarantining at tri-force managed Quarantine Centres.

All associates that contacted COVID-19 positive cases have been identified and directed to QCs managed by tri-services. It does not necessarily mean that they are infected with the virus. This measure is adopted in order to prevent the transmission of this virus into the society.

The public are urged to trust the information, distributed by the Government Information Department and the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) on the status quo of COVID-19 detections since various rumours and false information are being circulated in social media and the internet, the statement ended.
