Troops Unearth Terrorist Mines While Forging Ahead

MANNAR: TIGER TERRORISTS operating in the areas north of MADU and surrounding areas on Thursday (17) tried their maximum to provoke the ground troops by directing mortar fire towards troop positions.

Troops in SULAINAMARATAMADU, north of MADU camp had to snipe two terrorists in the area within a matter of fifteen minutes between 9.25 – 9.40 a.m. on Thursday (17).

It was later revealed that two female terrorists had died in the sniper fire.

Meanwhile, similar attacks on terrorists in KODDAIKULAM and TENVADAIYAN areas killed at least four more terrorists including two females between 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. on Thursday (17).

In the meantime clearing troops removed 113 LTTE buried anti personnel mines and one 122 mm mortar trap and two booby traps from SULAINAMARATAMADU and ADAMPAN areas on Thursday (17).

Two soldiers sustained injuries when one improvised explosive device exploded in PALAIMODDAI on Thursday (17) at about 10.15 a.m.
