Troops Support Kelaniya Temple ‘Pinkam’

About 200 Army personnel from 144 Infantry Brigade, including 10 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 1 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 18 Sri Lanka National Guard and 1 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps provided their full support for conduct of the annual ‘Pirith’ chanting ceremony and the offer of alms to 1000 monks at Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya.

In response to a request made by Ven. Dr Kollupitiye Sangharakkhitha Thero, Incumbent, Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya, troops actively contributed to the preparation of the venue for ‘Pirith’ chanting and the subsequent alms-giving to 1000 monks in the morning.

The religious event was sponsored by Kangara Holdings Pvt. Ltd. The Founder and Chief Patron of ‘Ama Dora Viwara Viya Sadhaham Foundation’ of the ‘Seelasamahitha Aranya Senasanaya’ Seelagama, Belihuloya, Balangoda, Venerable Balangoda Radha Thero, led the all-night ‘Pirith’ chanting.

Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces - West and Brigadier Vindana Kodituwakku, Commander, 144 Infantry Brigade closely supervised the Army contribution.
