Troops of the 61 Infantry Division supported the conduct of Southern Provincial Council - organized ‘Ruhunu Rasa Saraniya’ food festival, held at Galle Town Hall premises during 27 - 28 October.
The occasion was an attempt to popularize indigenous food varieties and recipes with special focus on young entrepreneurs who would like to invest in food industry.
A large gathering of interested groups, children and budding businessmen took part in the arrangement during both days.
Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division attended the inaugural ceremony, declared open by Dr. Willy Gamage, the Governor of Southern Province.
A large number of food experts from different areas of the southern province joined this mega food festival. 61 Infantry Division troops and under-command Battalions assisted the government authorities in arranging the event. Army troops also contributed by opening a stall.
