Troops Still Collect LTTE Arms &;amp; Ammunitions

WANNI & EAST: ARMY TROOPS engaged in search and clear operations in the general areas of IRANAMADU, VISUAMADU, PUTHUKKUDDIYIRUPPU, SUGANDHIPURAM and KUPPILANKULAM on Thursday (20) recovered  thirty Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), nine hand grenades, seven hundred and twenty-three rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, forty-three anti personnel mines, six booby traps, nine thousand and four hundred rounds of General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) ammunition, twelve thousand three hundred and twenty-seven rounds of T-56 ammunition, two micro pistol magazines, eight shotgun cartridges, five hundred rounds of .50 ammunition, twenty unidentified bombs, three claymore mines weighing about 1kg each, 30 kg of C-4 explosives, twenty 60mm mortar bombs, eight 120mm mortar bombs, one 81mm mortar bomb, thirteen Arul bombs, five claymore mines weighing about 500g each, one Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) link, seven T-56 magazines, forty-six rounds of 12.7 mm ammunition, twelve Jonny mines and one pressure mine.

     Meanwhile, Troops operating in the East found two T-56 weapons, four T-56 magazines, one hundred and twenty-six rounds of T-56 ammunition, one hand grenade, thirty-five 82 mm mortar bombs, two 81 mm mortar bombs and eight 60 mm mortar bombs from the general areas of WELIKANDA, PERIYAWADDUWAN, IRALAKKULAM and KOLYANADU, the same day (20).
