Troops with Southerner's Generosity Builds New Home for Woman Soldier in Jaffna

Security Force HQ-Jaffna, exhibiting its prioritized concern for welfare of troops, managed to gift a decent new dwelling place to one of their woman soldiers, Private Darshika Jesuthasen of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC), resident in Koddagapuram, South of Palaly in the Jaffna peninsula whose father too had served the Navy before retirement.

Following initiatives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna, Jaffna troops in the past couple of years have been exceptionally generous in offering their technical and engineering expertise as well as manpower for construction of much-needed houses for hundreds of needy families in the peninsula with sponsorship, provided largely by Southerners, Expatriates, Sinhalese and Tamil businessmen, philanthropists and well-wishers at the request of the SFHQ-Jaffna.

The philanthropist, Mr Kumara Weerasuriya who hails from the South has so far contributed many times for erection of houses in the peninsula for needy people and sponsored the purchase of all raw materials to the new house of the woman soldier who has been serving the organization for years after enlistment to the Army.

11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the 521 Brigade under the 52 Division were instrumental in erecting this house, supplied with water, electricity and a few other appliances. During the warming ceremony of the new home on Thursday (18), a brief service was conducted by clergy to invoke divine blessings on the new house and the woman soldier after Hindu traditions symbolized the occasion. After opening the new house, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya presented a gift to the recipient extending greetings and best wishes. Her father, Sailor Gnanaprasagam Jesuthasen of the Navy is now retired and living with her but absence of a proper house due to economic constraints, compelled them to undergo difficulties until her plight was brought to the notice of the Jaffna Commander through her SLAWC Commanding Officer.

Divisional Secretary for Valikamam, State officials, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Representatives of the donors, Officers, 11 VIR troops, relatives and villagers were present at the brief ceremony. Authentic Sneakers | Jordan Ανδρικά • Summer SALE έως -50%
