Troops with Sailors and Civilians Clean Pooneryn Beach

To coincide with the ongoing National Marine Resources Conservation Week (19-25 Sept) and the International Coastal Cleanup Day-2020 (19 September), 66 Division on Monday (21) launched a beach cleaning programme in Gautharimunai coastal beach in Pooneryn area in the Kilinochchi District.

General Officer Commanding 66 Division Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Commander, 661 Brigade Brigadier Shantha Hewage, Civil Affairs Officers, Commanding Officers and a large number of Army and Navy troops contributed to the project.

The event was organized by the Marine Environment Protection Authority of the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment. The senior government officials, including Kilinochchi District Secretary Mrs R Ketheeswaran, Divisinal Secretary for Poonakary Division Mr S.
