Alert Army troops of the 142 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters -West Sunday (23) morning rushed to Ihala Hanwella Polwatte area and placed sandbags along low-lying areas to avert Kelani river overflowing and possibly submerging public roads around the area.
A group of 10 Sri Lanka National Guard soldiers under the command of 142 Brigade of 14 Division quickly showed up at the location and commenced placing sandbags in order to avoid water spills submerging the area. Troops are observing the developments with Policemen and DMC officials.
Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces – West personally see the developments with other Officers while the troops were busy.
