Troops Restore Road Movement in Less than Two Days

Kilinochchi-based 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI) troops rose to the occasion and immediately restored a road patch, damaged due to surging flood waters in Konavil, Akkaranayamkulam area that crippled transport between Konavil-Suniyamkulam.

Gushing waters, experienced in this area in the past few days completely washed away a road length of about 25-30 ft in Konavil area on Konavil-Suniyamkulam road, turning it impassable for vehicles. This situation as a result cut off movement of  essentials and regular transport, disrupting civil life and normalcy in the area, which was brought to the notice of the SLLI troops by civilians after two days of the damage.

Troops acted fast, rushed to the location and mustered the support of the civilians in the area to carry out repairs as early as possible after collecting soil. In less than two days, the Army’s round the clock dedication restored the road patch, enabling vehicle movements possible again by Wednesday (2) afternoon.

Civilians afterwards met troops and extended their gratitude to the troops for their hard work and timely-action.
