Troops Renovate Damaged House of Blind Family in Kebithigollawa

Troops of the 5 (v) Gajaba Regimen, together with the troops of the Corps of Engineer Service Regiment, attached to the 62 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni provided their workforce and technical expertise to the renovation of a house of a disabled family in Galawewa, Kebithigollewa.

A house occupied by a mother and a son, both blind since birth needed repairs and renovation after the house was attacked by a wild elephant several months ago. The Army initiative coordinated Mr. Joga Perera and Mr. Susantha Jayawardana, Directors of Auto Lanka Land Vehicle Imports- Pepiliyana who provided financial support for purchase of raw materials for the house.

Troops as directed renovated the partially-damaged house and vested it in the family without a father on Friday (4) as one more humanitarian project of the Wanni troops.

The project was launched on the directions of the General Officer Commanding, 62 Infantry Division, Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP who facilitated the troops to carry out the task.

The Commanding Officer of 5 (V) Gajaba Regiment, Major D.SY.L Kuruwita closely monitored the construction works of the damaged house.

General Officer Commanding of the 62 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the simple house-warming ceremony.
