Troops Recover over 400 Tiger Dead Bodies &; A Large Stock of Arms from Puthukkudiyiruppu

(2nd Update)

MULLAITTIVU: AFTER three days of heavy gun battles, soldiers of 53 and 58 Divisions and TF-VIII captured the entire PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU area, the last base station of the LTTE terrorists this morning (5). Troops confirmed that LTTE leaders GADAFI, NAGESH, THEEPAN, DURGA, VIDUSHA and the leader of LTTE artillery wing, MANIWANNAN were killed while BANU was critically injured during those gun battles.

In search operations conducted in the area troops were able to recover more than two hundred and fifty dead bodies of LTTE terrorists today (5) bringing the total number of dead bodies recovered during last three days to four hundred and twenty.

In addition, three 130 mm artillery guns, one 85 mm artillery gun, one 30 mm pedal gun (ZPU-4), a large stock of 12.7 mm weapons and small arms were recovered from the area by the troops.
