Troops of the 593 Brigade under the 59 Division HQ with the generosity, extended by a philanthropist in the area volunteered to complete the partly-built house of the civilian, Gnanaprakasham Mariyadasan, resident in the Tsunami housing scheme in Wemmale East, Nayaru.
The house recipient reaching the Army sought assistance for completion of his partly-built home as it is difficult for him to live inside it. Accordingly, 593 Brigade HQ in consultation with Major General Priyantha Perera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 59 Division succeeded in contacting a donor in the same area for assistance for raw materials.
The construction work of the project started early last week on the directions of the GOC and the 593 Brigade Commander during a simple ceremony.
