Troops Provide Assistance to Flood Victims

TORRENTIAL rains have rendered more than one hundred and ten families in Uriankattu and Sinnattamunai areas under 233 Brigade in the east.

One hundred and forty-four civilians, belonging to 41 families have been temporarily housed at Uriankattu Government school for the time being. Another group of 210 affected civilians of  70 families have been provided temporary shelter at Sinnattamunai Vidyalaya with the coordination work done by Army troops considering the emergency circumstances. 

Medical Officers in the 233 Brigade with the leadership given by District Medical Officer at Vakarai conducted two separate medical clinics for those displaced people, currently living in those two schools. On the instructions of Security Forces Headquarters, East, Army troops have taken steps to provide necessary items and essentials to those affected people.
