Initiatives taken by the 622 and 623 Brigade Headquarters under the 62 Division, saw inauguration of English language teaching classes for the benefit of children in Jayanthiwewa Maha Vidyalaya in Padaviya - Sripura and Padikudirippu Government Mixed School in the north of Vavuniya during March 21 - 23.
150 students at Jayanthiwewa Maha Vidyalaya, a school which remained under terrorists’ threats in the Padavi – Sri Pura Divisional Secretariat are attending this English language course, patronized by Mr Vijaya Rathnathinkam, a philanthropist in the area.
Meanwhile, 50 students from Padikudirippu Government Mixed School in Vauniya Divisional Secretariat, began English learning under three classes with the support of the same donor.
Teachers for these courses are paid with patronage received from the donor. The inaugural ceremonies got underway with Brigadier K.G.D. Perera, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division as the Chief Guest at both places.
