In response to an SOS request of Dr. E. J Pushpakanthan, Director, Government Hospital in Mannar, 54 Infantry Division HQ troops in Thallady, Mannar volunteered to give their blood to the patients in the Mannar Hospital during an arrangement at the 54 Infantry Division HQ premises, held on 12 December 2023.
75 dedicated Officers and Other Ranks of the 54 Infantry Division HQ donated their blood for this community-oriented project. Major General K.M.S.B Kulathunga RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division gave necessary guidance for success of the project and closely supervised it.
A total of 33.3 liters of blood was collected by the blood bank medical staff at Mannar Hospital during the camp.
