Troops in Mannar Support Conduct of 'Katina Pooja'

Troops of the 10 (v) Gemunu Watch of the 541 Infantry Brigade of the 54 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni provided their workforce assistance to organize the annual “Katina Pooja Pinkama” at Mathota Rajamaha Viharaya during 17 and 18 November 2023.

Major W.G.G.S Bandara, Commanding Officer 10 (V) Gemunu Watch under the guidance of Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division and Colonel B.Y.C Fernando RWP USP, Brigade Commander of 541 Infantry Brigade mobilized the troops to support the event.

Nearly 600 Buddhist devotees from Gampaha, Ja-ela, Padukka and Anuradhapura areas participated in the annual “Katina Pooja Pinkama”.

Venerable Ambagahawewa Sangharakkhitha Thero, the chief incumbent at Mathota Rajamaha Viharaya conducted the Dharma sermon during the event.

The General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division, Commander of 543 Infantry Brigade, Officers and Other Ranks of 54 Division, troops of the Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force, and Police personnel were also present during this religious event.
