VAVUNIYA : POLICE PERSONNEL on routine duties on A-30 main road had detected a claymore mine by the roadside in THALIKULAM Wednesday (7) at about 7.00 a.m.
Alert Police personnel immediately brought down Police Special Task Force (STF) bomb disposal team and de-activated the claymore.
Meanwhile, in PERIYATHAMPANE the same day (7) troops confronted a group of Tiger terrorists who were trying to infiltrate into military-held areas around 5.40 p.m.
Troops shot and killed two terrorists during the clash.
No casualties were reported to soldiers.
