Troops of the 5 (V) Gajaba Regiment (GR) of the 623 Brigade under the supervision of Major Dammika Herath, Commanding Officer, 5 (V) GR at Ritigahawewa launched a Shramadana on Sunday (17).
Major General Upali Gunasekara, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division instructed the troops to go ahead with the community project.
The farmers' society at Ritigahawewa too joined the troops to clean the Ritigahawewa Tank bund of 1200m in length which provides water for 200 acres of paddy field during the Maha season. Over 90 farming families are the beneficiaries of the cleanining project.
