Troops Join Inauguration of Seasonal Sripada Pilgrimage Season

19 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops under command to the 112 Brigade of the 11 Division under the Security Force HQ-Central on the Unduwap Full Moon Poya day (18) assisted the seasonal inauguration of the annual 'Sripada' pilgrimage by carrying symbolic replicas and ornamental jewellery to the summit of the peak from Nallatanniya.

Under the supervision of the 19 SLNG Commanding Officer, troops participated in this religious assignment with the blessings of Major General Samantha Silva, Commander Security Forces-Central and Brigadier Anura Dissanayake, Commander, 112 Brigade.

The Army in the past three decades has been in the practice of supporting the carriage of those sacred ornaments to the Buddhist place of worship for inauguration of the seasonal pilgrimage period.
