Troops Join ‘Deepavali’ Celebrations in 65 Division Areas

Members of the Army 65 Division, 651, 652 and 653 Brigades under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni with the intention of promoting reconciliation and goodwill between civilians and Security Forces conducted several donation projects on account of ‘Deepavali’ festival on Thursday (4) in Palinagar, Thunukkai and Madu areas.

Troops of 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), 19 SLLI, 24 Gajaba Regiment and 17 (V) SLLI under the 65 Division gave away free meals and refreshments to the patients and staff at government hospitals and low income Hindu families in the areas on Deepavali day.

The programme was coordinated by the Civil Affairs Officer and his staff under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 65 Division Major General Anil Samarasiri.

The troops were able to distribute 505 lunch packets to Mallavi & Mulankavil government hospitals and among low income Hindu families in Mulankavil, Nachchcikuda, Alankulam, Iranamathanagar, Siraddikulam, Ambalpuram, Palinagar, Kirisuddan and Kalvilan Grama Niladari Divisions.
