Nanthikadal-based vegetable growers were allowed to sell their products through a mobile selling arrangement in the area after a request to this effect was extended to the General Officer Commanding 64 Division by the farmers in Mullaittivu areas.
Since the prevailing curfew hours to arrest the control of the COVID -19 outbreak has prevented the farmers from moving out to the markets for sale of their harvest, this door-to-door mobile mechanism was facilitated in coordination with local state and Police authorities.
17 Gajaba Regiment troops of the 642 Brigade with the assistance of the Divisional Secretariat - Oddusudan, Grama Niladhari (state official), Police and other health officials of the area executed the arrangement by facilitating the vegetable growers, beginning from Sunday (5) onwards.
Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittivu, Major General Deepthi Jayatilleke and the Divisional Secretary attended the inaugural occasion of the project.
