Troops on Humanitarian Operations Kill More Terrorists and Recover Explosives &; More LTTE Items

JAFFNA & WANNI: FIVE MORE TIGER bunkers in the general area of KILALY, JAFFNA were attacked by the troops operating ahead of the forward defence line Friday (18).

Death and casualties of the LTTE was yet to be known.

One soldier was injured in the exchange of fire.

Meanwhile confrontations in the area east of MADU, MANNAR killed twelve terrorists and caused injuries to at lest eight Friday (18).

Subsequent to confrontation troops conducted search operations in the areas and unearthed ninety nine anti personnel mines and eight booby traps.

Similarly troops captured six terrorist bunkers in the general area of MANIPULIKULAM, KANTHANKULAM and KADDANKULAM in MANNAR district Friday (18).

Meanwhile thirteen terrorists were killed and three injured as the troops launched attacks on LTTE positions at KADDANKULAM and MALIKITTIDAL the same day.

Tiger fire injured one soldier and he was referred for medical treatments.

Search and clear operations in the area recovered one I com radio set, four Arul bombs and twenty anti personnel mines.

Few more rounds fresh confrontations erupted between Tiger terrorists and troops North of JANAKAPURA and north of KIRIIBBANWEWA, ANDANKULAM Friday (18) killed at least three terrorists and cause injuries to another twenty one during day time.

One soldier was critically injured and succumbed to injuries on admission to hospital.

Six more soldiers were also injured and referred for medical treatment.

Troops later recovered two hundred and nineteen anti personnel mines and two 81 mm traps from the confronted areas.
