Troops Help Successful Conduct of Kovil Ritual

Responding to a request of the clergy in Iranamadu area, a group of about 50 Army personnel, including 10 officers serving the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), contributed to the successful conduct of the sacred water releasing ceremony for the ‘Yala’ season at Kanakambigai Amman Kovil, Iranamadu by way of conducting a ‘Shramadana’ for cleaning and providing facilities to the devotees.

Troops before the ceremony using Army machinery prepared the ground and cleared garbage surrounding the Kovil premises since hundreds were expected to attend the religious ceremony on Monday (27).

On the day of the ceremony, troops provided refreshments, medical and sanitary facilities to the devotees and facilitated their movements inside the sacred premises.

All coordinating assistance was provided under the guidance of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi. Clergy and devotees thanked the Army for their assistance and appreciated their help to make the religious ceremony a success.
