Troops Help Flood Victims

Torrential rains and inclement weather prevailing these days prompted 142 Brigade troops under Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) to rush to Pattiwela, Kungnawatta and a few other places in Wattala Divisional Secretariat area for provision of flood assistance to the affected.

Troops prepared 450 emergency cooked meal packets and went on distributing them among the victims for three days until conditions improved.

Similarly, troops set up a special mobile medical camp in the area with the support of the office of the Wattala Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in order to provide the victims with first aid and immediate medical requirements, considering the numbers of affected children and adults.

Meanwhile, Army troops serving island-wide formations have been alerted to possible flood-related catastrophes in areas where heavy rains were continuing.
