Troops of 4 Gemunu Watch and 11 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment jointly assisted the distribution of 500 chicks among 25 needy families in Kiran, Sittandy, Unnachchai and Vellavali areas in Batticaloa district on an initiative taken by the Commander, 231 Brigade, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarachchi on Saturday (26).
The programme was conducted to support the livelihood of some selected poor families in the area with the sponsorship of generous donors, Mr. G S Yoganath of YRS Construction Limited and Mr Milro Senevirathna of Protect Property Holdings Private Limited.
Commander 231 Brigade, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarachchi visited doorsteps of those recipients and handed over the stocks of chicks.
