Army troops serving 552 Brigade swiftly jumped into action and took necessary measures to evacuate more than 15 injured school students to hospital when their bus turned turtle at Mullaiady, near Pallai Town on Saturday (15).
The 19-member team of school students was on a tour to Mullaittivu on that fateful day after starting off from Kaithady when they faced this unexpected tragedy at A9 road.
Colonel Deepal Wanniarachchi, 552 Brigade Commander immediately dispatched his Brigade’s ambulance for evacuation of the injured to Kilinochchi Based Hospital and Pallai Hospital.
Soldiers of the 23 Gemunu Watch, serving the area responded to the emergency effectively and provided all assistance to the students, even going to the extent of providing first aid to students with minor injuries.
