542 Brigade troops at the request of the Incumbent at Wilpattu Wijayatilake Temple, Venerable Maha Vilachchiye Wimala Thero are currently assisting the construction of the temple’s shrine, residential quarters, preaching hall, temple bell tower, alms hall and other constructions.
Commander, 542 Brigade after offering support for the construction with sponsors, connected to his family laid the foundation-stone for the construction work on 6th December 2020.
With the invitation of the Commander, 542 Brigade, Brigadier K.W.S Perera, Commander, 54 Division, Major General A.A.I.J Bandara recently declared open a section of the constructions including the shrine hall, bell tower and other sections.
To coincide with the opening, 40 dry ration packs and meal packets were given away to low income group civilians living in the village. Those packs were sponsored by the Commander, 542 Brigade.
