Troops Educated on Disaster Management

The Army, round the clock ready to undertake any emergency challenges in relation to floods, catastrophes or disasters, continues its training roles towards disaster management by way of conduct of workshops and training programmes.

The Security Force HQ - West (SFHQ-West) accordingly organized one full-day workshop on ‘Disaster Preparedness & Mitigation in Sri Lanka’ at the SFHQ-West conference hall on Wednesday (17) on a suggestion made by Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces - West.

The Director of Mitigation, Research and Development, Ms Anoja Senevirathne and Military Coordinator from Disaster Management Centre in Sri Lanka and Captain N.H.S Perara conducted the workshop covering all salient aspects including Disaster Risk Management Framework, Understanding Disaster Risk, Disaster Risk Governance, Disaster Risk Sensitive Investment, Preparedness for Response Rehabilitation Reconstruction, Recovery, following BBB principle and emergency response mechanism in Sri Lanka, etc.

The Staff Officers of the SFHQ-West, Deputy Centre Commandants, Senior Officers and Officers belongs to Security Forces - West physically and virtually participated in the workshop sessions.
