Security Force Headquarters-Mullaithivu (SFHQ-MLT) troops distributed sewing machines and string hopper cookers among resettled widows in Puthukkuddiyirippu of the SFHQ-MLT area with the financial assistance of ‘Shanthi’ Community Empowerment Campaign (‘Shanthi’ Praja Sajeevikarana Wyaparaya) at Lecture Hall, 682 Brigade Headquarters premises on Tuesday (4).
During the occasion, 40 sewing machines and 20 string hopper cookers, worth of about Rs. 1.2 m were distributed among 60 widows on the instructions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT and the coordination of Major General A Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 68 Division.
Major General A Kariyakarawana who coordinated the programme graced the distribution ceremony as the chief guest together with Fr. Shantha Abeysinghe, Director, ‘Shanthi’ Community Empowerment Campaign, members of ‘Shanthi’ Community Empowerment Campaign and a large gathering of general public in the area.
