Troops of the 562 Brigade under the 56 Division on the instructions of the Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara and the General Officer Commanding, 56 Division Major General Nandana Dunuwila, launched several disinfection programmes in and around public places in Vavuniya township on Monday (26) in order to control the spread of COVID-19 virus.
Accordingly, 17 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 562 Brigade sterilized public places around bus stands, railway station, welfare centers, state and private banks, markets, public assembly points and three-wheeler parks, etc in Vavuniya town area. The project was closely supervised by the Commander 562 Brigade, Brigadier A.M.S Premawansa.
Vavuniya Public Health Inspectors and urban council officials in respective areas contributed to the project.
Troops of 21 SLSR conducted a disinfection Program in Vavuniya town from on (28) April.
Covering Vavuniya market, hospital circular road, front and rear gate area of the hospital, besides the road connecting hospital circular road, old bus stand, railway station and Bazzar Street in order to prevent spreading of corona virus in the area with an absolute guidance of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Hemantha Bandara, instructions of GOC 56 Division Major General Nandana Dunuwila and the supervision of Commander 563 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Panduka Perera.
Commander 563 Brigade, Officers of 563 Brigade headquarters, troops of 21 SLSR and MOH office in Vavuniya gave their assistance towards this endeavor.
Moreover, a fire extinguisher vehicle and a water bowser was given by municipal council in Vavuniya to successfully carry out the programme.
