On the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara and the General Officer Commanding - 56 Division Major General Nandana Dunuwila, 562 Brigade troops launched a disinfection programme in and around public places in Vavuniya town on Thursday (24) in order to suppress the spread of COVID - 19 virus.
The programme conducted under the supervision of the Commander 562 Brigade Brigadier Senaka Premawansa sterilized public places such as bus stands, railway station, welfare centers, state and private banks, market places, general hospital compound, government and non-governmental institutions, public assembly points and three-wheeler parks, etc.
17 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops using protective equipment carried out this disinfection campaign, together with the assistance of 8 field Engineer Regiment, public health inspectors and urban council employees.
