Troops of 4 Gemunu Watch (GW) under Command to the 231 Brigade of the 23 Division under the Security Forces-East distributed 100 dry ration packets among needy families in Pawakkodi Cheney and Rajthurai areas on Saturday (10) after a philanthropist sponsored the stock.
Those dry ration packs included Dhal, Rice, Milk Powder, wheat flour, cereals, spices, etc and the sponsorship for the donation was provided by a philanthropist following coordination, done by Lieutenant Colonel G.R.R.L Jayasinghe, Commanding Officer, 4 Gemunu Watch.
Troops of 4GW together with officers went to the doorstep of the beneficiaries and gave away those packs, adhering to health guidelines.
231 Brigade Commander and the GOC 23 Division gave necessary instructions for conduct of the programme.
