Troops of the 14 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) coordinated a project to distribute dry ration packs among needy families who were affected by floods in the general areas of Wellampitiya, Kaduwela and Kelanimulla on Monday (7).
A businessman in the area took the initiative and sponsored those packs, inclusive of rice, dhal, sugar, milk powder, salt, tea leaves, onions, etc which is worth over Rs 200,000. Troops of the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry distributed those ration packs among 100 families.
Meanwhile, the same 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops with sponsorship received distributed 480 water bottles among needy families who were affected by floods in the general areas of Kotuwila, Welivita and Wekkawaththa on Thursday (10).
On the directions of Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces – West and Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, General Officer Commanding 14 Division, Brigadier Wasantha Liyanawaduge, Commander 144 Brigade coordinated the project and mobilized his troops to carry out the projects.
