Seenigama - based ‘Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’ (Foundation of Goodness), headed by Mr Kushil Gunasekara once again showed its goodwill and generosity towards people living in Samanthurai Divisional Secretariat and donated 105 push bicycles for distribution among students of low-income group families on Thursday (30).
Major General Lal Perera, Security Force Commander-East attended the distribution ceremony as the chief guest. Mr Kushil Gunasekara, Founder of ‘Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’, Commander Task Force 3, Zonal Director of Education Samanthurai, 631 Brigade Commander, Unit Commanding Officers, Principal at Dharussalaam Maha Vidyalaya, Parents, Students and several invitees took part in the ceremony.
Meanwhile, with the objective of assisting the public on ‘Human-Elephant’ conflict in the area, an awareness programme for villagers in Suriyapura, Samagipura, Samanalapalama, Kawanthissapura, Somawathiya Nawa Gammanaya in Somapura Sinhala School, was conducted at Suriyapura and Samagipura by 222 Brigade troops.
In the meantime, 18 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) serving Kaththankudi under 231 Brigade of 23 Division under the Security Force Headquarters (SFHQ-E), provided all possible assistance to organize a volleyball tournament in Kaththankudi area on May 28.
