River banks of the Manik Ganga in Sella Kataragama areas in Kataragama were thoroughly cleaned by troops of the 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under command to the 121 Brigade of the 12 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Central before the traditional water cutting ceremony of the Kataragama Esala festival got underway. The 'Shramadana' campaign took place on Thursday (22).
Major General Prasanna Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division and the 121 Brigade Commander gave necessary directions and instructions to the Commanding Officer of the 20 SLSR to go ahead with the project.
