Responding to an appeal made by the District Secretary for Batticaloa, 23 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on Friday (20) carried out a Shramadana programme in the Batticaloa City in order to clean the town area.
The cleaning project conducted on the directions of Major General H.W.S.D.B Pananwala, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division was supported by respective Brigade troops.
Altogether 370 Army troops contributed to the cleaning project, including 03 officers and 50 other ranks of the 23 Division, 06 officers and 150 other ranks of the 231 Brigade, 05 officers and 50 other ranks of the 232 Brigade and 06 officers and 100 other ranks of the 233 Brigade.
General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, senior officers and Mrs P.S.M Charles, District Secretary for Batticaloa along with her staff attended the inaugural moment of the cleaning project.
