Troops-Built Two More New Houses in Jaffna Vested in Needy Families

The compassionate thought of skilled Jaffna troops to provide decent shelters to homeless civilians resulted in the construction of two more new homes in Kollankaladdy and Uduvil South areas and vested them in beneficiaries with co-sponsorships, provided by both National Housing Development Authority and Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

Extending their technical, engineering and manpower support, troops built those two new houses on the directions of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Commander, Security Forces Jaffna after their economic hardship was brought to the notice of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna. House construction for underprivileged families across the island received further steam after General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) encouraged the troops to broaden this community service aspect as a nation-building project at all SFHQ levels, mustering the support of all donors and agencies.

10 Sri Lanka Artillery and 9 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops of the 511 and 515 Brigades, provided much-needed technical and engineering manpower for the construction expeditiously under the supervision of the Commanders of 511 and 515 Brigades within a very short period.

Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku on Monday (30) during two separate ceremonies handed over keys of those houses to both beneficiaries, Mrs Jenadas Anusra and Mrs Rajkumar Thatchajini.
