Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) after careful observation, offered its support for construction of two new houses for two low-income group families in Kumarapuram and Mulliyaveli West.
Several donors, Messrs J.R. Anthony Britto, S. Aravindan, K. Prasad & B. Sudaharan jointly donated a sum of Rs 3.5 lakhs for the house at Kumarapuram, built for Mr M Thamil Selvam while Mr S.K.T. Nathan of Switzerland spent Rs 3.5 lakhs for the construction of another house for Mr Thangarasa Jeriko at Mulliyaveli West, following coordination, done by SFHQ-MLT.
Troops of 4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and 20 Gemunu Watch (GW) provided their labour for construction of both houses within a matter of three weeks.
Ceremonial hand-over of both new houses to the beneficiaries took place on Sunday (23), headed by Hon Namal Rajapaksa (MP) and several other guests.
Major General L.B.R. Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, Mr N. Vedanayagan, District Secretary for Mullaittivu, Brigadier G.R.H. Dias, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division and a few more senior officers attended the brief ceremony.
