Troops Build House for Needy Family with Government Funds

14 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of the 621 Brigade under the 62 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni with the funds received from the Padaviya Divisional Secretariat under the ‘Saubhagya Housing Programme’ erected a new house for the needy family of Mrs A.M Indrani of Parakramapura, Thonigala who is undergoing economic hardships and living without a proper shelter.

The beneficiary, a mother of two daughters and her husband died due to heart attack some time ago but she has been living a hand to mouth life without any proper shelter or a source of income when the troops spotted her miserable condition.

Accordingly, Major General Upali Gunasekara, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division got in touch with the Divisional Secretariat and found resources for construction of this house with the technical expertise of 14 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops who undertook the responsibility of erecting the house. Brigadiar K.K.S Perakum, Commander, 621 Brigade closely supervised the construction in close coordination with the Commanding Officer, (14) SLLI.

During a recent ceremony, the new house was vested in the beneficiary, Mrs A.M Indrani and her children in the presence of the Brigade Commander and government officials took part in the warming ceremony.
