The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Headquarters (SLAVF) on Monday (05) at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Headquarters - Kosgama bade farewell to the outgoing Commandant, SLAVF, Major General W.A.S.S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu in a formal military ceremony.
On arrival, the outgoing commandant was received by Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, Deputy Commandant SLAVF. Moments later, he placed his signature in an official document signifying the handing over of his duties at his office. Afterwards the outgoing Commandant unveiled his portrait adding his tenure to the great legacy of the Commandants. The outgoing SLAVF Commandant's own father served as the 5th Commandant of the Volunteer Force before he commanded the Army several decades ago.
Adding memories to the day, he was invited to pose for a few photographs with the staff before addressing All Ranks in the compound where he thanked them for their generous assistance and support extended to him during his tenure. Towards the end of the troop address, he was presented with special mementos by the SLAVF Officers before he interacted with the troops during a formal All Rank tea. At the end of the day, a farewell dinner was hosted in his honour at the Officers’ Mess.
Deputy Commandant of SLAVF, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the day’s programme.
Major General W.A.S.S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu recently assumed office as the new Deputy Chief of Staff.
